HEC introduced ORIC to elevate the universities as community builders and research-based economies promoting knowledge, research, innovation, and commercialization. Thus, the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) was established at SMBB Medical University, Larkana in 2009. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah, the directorate of ORIC of this university has kick-started its function to achieve its objectives on top priority as per its mission in light of HEC guidelines.
Objectives:
- To work in line with Higher Education Commission policies and guidelines.
- ORIC to promote and line up several research projects at the constituents Colleges of SMBBMU Larkana and which have a direct impact on the community/society today.
- To disseminate the information regarding available research grants opportunities among faculty members and enrolled research scholars.
- To process/forward all research proposals to HEC/other donor agencies through ORIC.
- To identify new ways and opportunities of collaborations.
- To commercialize the relevant research for the benefit of the community and the University.
- To keep a record of all researches carried out in the University by faculty members and enrolled scholars.
- To promote an anti-plagiarism culture in the University.
- To Arrange/conduct seminars, conferences and training-cum-internship programs for faculty and students.
- To conduct national and International trainings and workshops.
ORIC Research Activities
1. MBBS Undergraduate Research Activities:
More than 35 MBBS undergraduate students Research groups are working on different projects under the Supervision of Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso, Director, ORIC, SMBBMU Larkana.
2. Postgraduate Research Activities:
Postgraduate students working in various Basic and allied medical & surgical wards of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) also doing their research. Each postgraduate group work under the concerned supervisor and guidance under the Directorate of ORIC, SMBB Medical University Larkana.
3. IPRS Undergraduate Research Activities:
05 research groups of Physiotherapy undergraduate students are working on different projects under the Supervision of concerned teachers and guidance of Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso, Director, ORIC, SMBBMU Larkana.
4. Research Consultation:
The Directorate of ORIC also provides consultation in paper writing, analysis the results and support in article publications and promotes research innovations concepts at the University.
5.Research Posters Competition:
Directorate of ORIC, SMBB Medical University Larkana also conducts the research poster competition. All the faculty, postgraduates and undergraduates students are exhibiting their research through posters.
6. Training Programs:
Directorate of ORIC, SMBB Medical University Larkana also facilitates trainings programs on different topics. This directorate also conducted several training programs.
7. Innovative Products:
The following are research innovative projects of Students of the Pharmacy department;
"Deplytic" a solid perfume with some anti-anxiety and anti-depressent properties.

Antibacterial & Anti-inflammatory effects of Naem Aloevera Soap.
The Directorate of ORIC has successfully organized Workshops, Seminars, Poster as well as Oral presentations.
