The first professional degree in physical therapy endorsed by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan(HEC) comprises of 5 years (10 semesters).
This degree program include foundational science courses, such as anatomy, physiology, histology, exercise physiology, neuroscience, biomechanics, pharmacology, pathology, and radiology/imaging, along with behavioral science courses, such as evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning. In this degree program the students also study the clinically-based courses include medical screening, examination tests and measures, diagnostic process, therapeutic interventions, outcomes assessment, and practice management.

The mission of the DPT program is to prepare students to become physical therapists that embrace evidence-based physical therapy practice, meet the multi faceted health needs of patients, consumers, and society, and participate in professional and community service. To fulfill this mission we create a stimulating and collaborative environment that promotes education, research, service, and leadership.

Physical therapists are essential members of the healthcare team who maintain, restore, and improve movement, activity, and health enabling individuals of all ages to have optimal functioning and quality of life while ensuring patient safety and applying evidence to provide efficient and effective care

I really feel proud to write this message as an ambassador of the physical therapy profession. By the grace of almighty ALLAH, the Institute of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation sciences has fully functional facilities, as we are committed to providing and setting a state of the art Physical Therapy education. In the last decade, the field of physical therapy has made a significant and worthwhile contribution in restoring the quality of life to the people with different abilities. I would like to advise the students to manage their time well and aim for high goals in life and for that they will have to work very hard. There is no short cut to success. The vision of our faculty is aligned with the vision of the university in terms of providing in providing quality education in Physical Therapy under the umbrella of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana. The faculty is adequately equipped in terms of expertise and national as well as international linkages. The future students would find their educational experience in this Institute as very competitive and exciting and this will surely help them in their future endeavors in broadening their expertise and become useful for the mankind.
