The Vice Chancellor, SMBBMU Larkana, Prof, Dr. Nusrat Shah, inaugurated the event along with Prof. Dr. Alim Ibrahim Siddiqui, Dean of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Yousif Shah, Dean of Dentistry, Prof. Zameer Ahmed Soomro, Principal CMC.

 

During the conference, around 18 scholars presented their research on various projects covering a wide range of issues related to health. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each besides a certificate of appreciation as well as shields. In addition to this, all other remaining scholars were also awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation as well. The participants were extended an opportunity and a platform to engage in a detailed panel discussion where questions on health and hygiene were answered amicably.

 

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nusrat Shah expressed that the conference is an innovative nature which has been organised for the first time in the history of the varsity by the Director, ORIC. She further remarked that it will open avenues of research and development in basic and clinical sciences which will further add to the better healthcare services, medical practices, and methods to adopt new technologies. All these will benefit the patients in Pakistan through improved diagnostics and treatments.

 

Dr. Mir Hassan Khoso, Director, ORIC commented that the conference was established under the supervision of worthy Vice Chancellor, SMBBMU, Larkana in line with our commitment to contribute in scientific advancement through collaborations with the global medical research community. He further added that his office will be working for providing maximum opportunities and platforms to the students of this university to enhance their medical aptitude.
