A Tree Plantation seminar was organized by Shaheed Mohtrma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana in collaboration with Sindh Agricultural University Tando Jam on 10 September 2024 at Arija Campus of the University. 

The Chief Guest in the seminar was the Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agricultural University, Tando Jam, Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri, while the seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah. The speakers included Sindh Agriculture University experts Prof. Noor un Nissa Memon and Prof. Inayatullah Rajpar and the District Forest Officer Mr Arshad Haider. Dr Fateh Muhammad Marri while addressing the seminar said SMBBMU is the first university of Sindh to organise a Plantation Seminar, which highlights the vision of the Vice Chancellor Prof Nusrat Shah. He said the goal is to plant 1 crore trees in Sindh. However, taking care of plants is more important than planting trees because if we had done that there would be enough trees in the world today. 

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Nusrat Shah said this is a unique seminar as this is the first time university has organized an educational activity regarding Plantation. We are a medical university and we realize that trees are a symbol of health. Planting more trees improves human health by improving the quality of air. She said the good news is that SMBBMU is going to sign an MoU with SAU, Tando Jam for collaborating in the fields of teaching, learning, research, joint seminars and conferences and student and faculty exchange programs. 

Addressing the seminar, Professor Noor un Nissa Memon gave a very comprehensive presentation on Plantation. 

Dr. Inayatullah Rajpar talked about the quality of soil for successful Plantation. 

The seminar was also addressed by District Forest Officer Mr Arshad Haider, Director Pharmacy Dr Waseem Abbas and Dr Nadeem Baloch. Significantly, apart from pharmacy and nursing students, a large number of primary school children of Arija also attended the Seminar along with their Head Master and teachers.
